Google Apps
Google Apps cuts out unlimited hassle; no more issues working between PC and MAC, lost documents are a things of the past - add to that the possibility to work real time on the same document, plus a complete editing history - you'll be kissing Word good-bye before you know.
Over the past year or two Google have been steadily releasing and updating a range of online and local software, the list is long and all the tools offer both great usability and in many ways a natural extension of the traditional services of Google - which is finding and organising information.
What's so apt about Google Apps?
Google Mail - by far the best and most complete web based email system - automatic drafts are saved as you write, powerful Google search engine to find those missing mails, pull in and send mail from your POP3 accounts - labels, not folders - 6GB of storage space ( archive don't delete ), this list goes on...
Google Talk - a solid and simple chat program, which, unlike Skype, offers simply chat and speaking options - which it does very well. The program is also integrated into GMail - where all your chats can be saved. Nothing fancy, but very reliable.
Google Docs - Google's online replacement for Office, including word processor, spreadsheet and presentation options. I'm not a fan of Word and jumped at Open Office when it was released, however the advantages of editing online - such as automatic backups, the ability to work on the same documents at the same time - and that it is impossible to lose a file - show that the future of all software is online.
Google Calendar - many of our clients require a simple way to organise and share details about events - and this is the answer, with one of the most intuitive user interfaces yet - and a million ways to share your dates - ( you can embed them in your website or Google home page ). Google Calendar offers a flexible and powerful way to organise anything from small groups and large companies.
